Enrique Cifuentes Leon, M.D.

A 1970 graduate of La Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Dr. Enrique Cifuentes Leon practiced medicine for well over 20 years in Hermosillo, Sonora., México. From 1988 to 2012 he was the Director of Medical Education at the Hermosillo General Hospital, all while continuing in full time practice. In 1970, shortly after graduating from Medical School, Dr. Cifuentes entered the Hospital Medical program in Tucson, Arizona, which he concluded in 1974.

In 1974, Dr. Cifuentes Leon became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in the United States, and received certification by the Mexican Board of Internal Medicine in 1995. His particular interest in the challenges and opportunities found in the medical care of older adults led him to further studies that resulted in becoming Board Certified in Geriatrics 1995.

The vast knowledge and experience Dr. Cifuentes Leon has gained over the years has made him well-known and esteemed by patients and respected by fellow physicians. His exposure to different medical settings and circumstances, various mythologies and levels of healthcare, dealing with patients with full access to a medical care system and those who are neglected by it has given Dr. Cifuentes as unique approach to practice of medicine, which he practices every day. He frequently says that “knowing what is going on in the health of a patient is discovered by making the time to listen to the patient”.

Enrique M. Cifuentes Jr., M.D.

Doctor Enrique Cifuentes Jr. was born in Tucson, Arizona and raised in Hermosillo, Sonora. Before obtaining his medical license in Arizona, he earned a medical degree from the Univerisad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico. He did his internship and residency in family practice at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

His background and educational training in both the United States and México, as well as having his father, an internationally known and respected physician as his mentor gives Dr. Cifuentes Jr. a unique insight into best practices in health care systems and a keen understanding of the linguistic and cultural nuances that are indispensable when it comes to the responsibility of attending to the health care needs of patients from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and Latino Families in particular.

Passionate about education, Dr. Cifuentes serves as a preceptor for medical students of the Arizona School of Health Sciences and the department of Physician Assistant Studies at Still University. He is a frequent contributor to health education programming in Radio Campesina, a non-profit radio network founded by Cesar Chavez based in Phoenix, Arizona with audiences in Arizona, California and Washington State. Dr. Cifuentes Jr. is also a researcher with the Clinical Research Consortium of Arizona.

Lorena A. Conde, PA-C

Originally from Venezuela, Lorena A. Conde, PA-C joined Gila Internal Medicine and Geriatrics in 2011. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor degree in Biomedical Science and moved to Arizona to continue her studies. In 2011 She graduated from A.T. Still University in Phoenix with a master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Lorena’s easy going approach to the practice of medicine allows patients of different ages and backgrounds to feel at ease and develop a trusting provider-patient relationship.

Lorena has continued her studies and holds several certifications in Aesthetic Medicine particularly in the use of neuromodulator and dermal fillers for skin care.

Robert G. Bonillas MD

Robert G. Bonillas MD was inspired to become a doctor as a child. He was raised in a family of mechanics, and discovered natural analogies between his father’s career choice and his own. Just as his father would diagnose and correct an issue with a car, Dr. Bonillas could do the same in medicine. He translated the values instilled by his family into a passion for helping people improve their lives.

His studies focused on science and medicine, Dr. Bonillas graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences. He later received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Dr. Bonillas trained in general surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City and was then invited by New York University Medical Center and Stanford University Medical Center, respectively, to participate in post-doctoral research fellowships in tissue engineering. His research has been published widely and presented at numerous hospitals and society meetings.

Following his fellowships, Dr. Bonillas finished his specialty training in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. In addition, Dr. Bonillas fulfilled several visiting residencies and interim training at hospitals across the country, to further enhance his surgical skills.

Dr. Bonillas is a member of several professional organizations, including, but no limited to, the American Society of Plastic, the Arizona Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Arizona Latin-American Medical Association.

Dr. Sumit Dewanjee

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Sumit Dewanjee, MD, has also been trained in sports Medicine Fellowship. Widely renowned as one of the premier orthopedic surgeons in Phoenix AZ, Dr. Dewanjee has been recognized with the prestigious Patient’s Choice Award for eight years in a row, 2008 to 2015. As the name suggests, the award is based on factors including expertise, compassion and more importantly the relationship with patients.

Dr. Dewanjee’s practice primarily focuses on orthopedic sports injuries of the hip, knee and shoulder, and along with orthopedic fracture treatment. The practice also integrates orthopedic treatments, such as stem cell therapy and cartilage restoration procedures. He is also knowledgeable in general orthopedics including customized total knee replacement and orthopedic bracing.

Other than above, he is skilled in minimally invasive procedures using arthroscopy, with expertise in minimizing blood loss and patient recovery periods – all this while still providing the benefit of advanced and cutting edge treatments in surgery. Luis F. Vazquez, DO, FAAOA

Dr. Vazquez was born and raised in Puerto Rico, moving to Arizona in his middle school years. He has been a practicing physician in the in the Phoenix metro area since 2014 and is bi-lingual in Spanish, both written and spoken. He completed his medical degree at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed surgical internship and otolaryngology residency at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, affiliated with Michigan State University in Madison Heights, MI. Dr. Vazquez furthered his training by obtaining a fellowship in Allergy through the American Academy Of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA).

Dr. Vazquez loves animals and almost became a veterinarian before deciding to pursue a career in human medicine. He enjoys cycling, cooking, traveling, trying local cuisine and has a great interest in different cultures and languages. He believes in treating patients as friends and as a Latino and native Spanish speaker, he has a passion for serving the underserved Latino community.

Dr. Albert Amini

Dr. Albert Amini is the Medical Director of Arizona Premier Surgery as well as a board-certified General Surgeon with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery for the liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. After earning his medical degree from Northwestern and completing his required medical internship and residency, Dr. Amini spent extra time learning about specialized hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, along with how to use modern technology to perform effective, minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Amini is board certified by the American College of Surgeons and he is also a member of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA). In addition to a full schedule of patients at Arizona Premier Surgery, Dr. Amini travels abroad to perform surgeries on underserved patients in the Dominican Republic, which has improved his fluency in Spanish.

Dr. Amini has a special interest in gastrointestinal (GI) oncology and complex hernia repairs. At Arizona Premier Surgery, some of the surgeries he performs are hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, as well as gastrointestinal oncology and colorectal surgery. Dr. Amini has expertise in the da Vinci® robotic surgical system and advanced laparoscopic surgery. 

Dr. Amini earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and his medical doctorate from Northwestern University Feinberg School of. He then completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson. During residency, he received the Surgical Intern of the Year Award, the Humanitarian Award, and the Outstanding Chief Resident award. He was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Medical Society and served as Administrative Chief Resident his final year. Dr. Amini went on to complete a hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, which specializes in surgical management and ultrasound of the pancreas, liver, and bile ducts.

Siamak Rassadi, M.D.

Dr. Rasssadi is Board Certified in cardiology and electrophysiology with certification in level 2 training in Nuclear Medicine cardiology and Echocardiography. He has additional certification in Internal Medicine and is registered at the Royal College of Canada.

Dr. Rassadi attended Indiana University where he studied cardiovascular medicine and was a Fellow in clinical electrophysiology. He received a PhD in 2005 from McGill University in Canada.

Dr Raul A.  Osorio

Dr. Raul A. Osorio was born in Ancash, Peru. In 1969, he graduated from Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain and completed his residency at St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester New York. After completing his residency in OB/GYN, Dr. Osorio joined the United States Air Force; he was stationed in New Hampshire, Michigan State, Germany and Arizona. After receiving an Honorable Discharge as Lt Colonel, Dr. Osorio opened his private medical practice in Mesa, Arizona in 1981. Currently, he specializes in gynecology.

Dr. Osorio is the Founder of the Osorio Foundation which organizes medical missions to provide the best possible care for the needy in his home country Peru. He has participated in more than a dozen of medical missions to South America, and currently he is volunteering for Rocky Point Medical Clinic to provide medical care to the most vulnerable population in these areas. His vision is to provide medical care and to share his knowledge as a preceptor with the local medical providers.

 

Dr Nicholas Kehagias

After originally being from Chicago, IL and growing up in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Nick Kehagias went back to Chicago to attend the University of Chicago before settling back in Arizona for medical school and anesthesia residency training at the University of Arizona. He has been in private practice for more than 3 years and has had many students shadow him during this time. His practice includes general, orthopedic, pediatric, neurosurgical, gynecological, obstetrical, trauma, thoracic, ENT, urological, and vascular anesthesia.
